- It meets the quality bar of any other side-scrolling Mario; no better or worse than any of the other ones
- While I remember it being a big deal at the time, it doesn’t seem like as big a deal now that this “sidescroller but 3d” arm of the series has been going for several years
- Resembles Mario 3 more than anything, what with the item inventory and the toad houses and the fact that the worlds are not interconnected
- The thing that makes this so fun was playing on real hardware, and the sideways Wii remote is delightful, but this is not a hardware review
- The game is fine; filing as “still holds up,” because you can sorta say that about any mario game.
